For these newspaper cuts/collages, I use the New York Times as a fragile, permeable symbol for objective reality. To zero is to recalibrate value as well as to set the sights of a gun for firing. By titling two pieces Zero and One, I am also making reference to the binary codes that form the basis for data in the digital world, but also date back to ancient systems of divination such as the I Ching, a lingual materia prima.
