The structure of the New York Times newspaper serves as a formal basis for this series of drawings. What began as a sketch for a larger composition has turned into an ongoing material and conceptual exploration. I intuitively map the rhythmic coalescence and dispersion of information through the creation and dissolution of the symbolic newspaper. Through the meditative layering of marks and color I discover the murmuration patterns of starlings, mandala-like records and CDs, computer punch cards, and the grids of Minimalism.
